Next Up

While the app is starting to "come alive," the flywheel is not quite spinning yet.

To stick to the flywheel analogy, imagine a fire hydrant wheel. You attempt to turn it. At first, there is incredible resistance, and you begin to have doubts that it will be able to move. Maybe it is stuck, you think. But then, all of a sudden, it moves a bit. It does not keep moving, but it moves. This slight movement gives you enough hope to know that it is capable of moving and, therefore, being opened. So you keep going until eventually it continues moving and the resistance begins to disappear until all of a sudden the wheel feels as if it is spinning effortlessly.

This past month proves that the wheel can be turned, but it is not yet at the resistance-free point where it feels "effortless." There is still uphill work to be done.

👇 Here is how we intend to get there:

  1. Engaging existing creators - all our marketing effort was focused on working with a couple of creators to bring users in, and it worked. In the process, hundreds of other great creators joined. But, many of them are not fully activated. This is untapped potential for both them and us so we will build a creator playbook and case study of our top-performing creator this past month and give it to all other creators to replicate and do the same.
  2. More creators - By working with just a couple of creators to start, we were able to go from 40 to 1043 subscribers in a month. And the truth is, it was one big creator who went all in and brought about 60% of them. So this next month we will do three things: 1) continue with the big creators who brought many users in, 2) go deep and specifically target new big creators who also have the potential to move the flywheel like the one this past month, and 3) go wide and reach out to hundreds of creators a week to join with intention to bring both big and little creators who both contribute towards growth.
  3. Platform improvements - now that all these users are in, it is important that we keep them engaged while also attracting new ones. While the creators do this organically by sharing new content, we are also working on ways to make the platform more engaging and attractive by making that content more discoverable. We are doing this in three primary ways: 1) improved discoverability of what creators to follow, 2) increased curation and sharing through our "playlists" like feature (imagine Spotify playlists but of health content - used for cookbooks, workout programs, etc.), and 3) a new explore page that's our own version of TikTok/Reels/Shorts but for just health.

If these initiatives are successful, the flywheel will be initiated, and this will grow faster than anyone imagined.

I am putting together more detailed analytics and projections of what this looks like and will share them when complete.

P.S.

I believe the best time to invest in anything is right before the inflection point, when the flywheel begins and escape velocity takes over. This is the moment when there are clear signs that there is tremendous potential, but only a few have the foresight to see them. This makes it a less risky, yet most rewarding time to invest. And it is less expensive than it will ever be as once the flywheel is initiated, the valuation increases significantly along with it.
